Mechanics

#PhaseDescription
1Phase 1 — Totem PhaseThe Nightmare spawns four totems around the arena. She charges them over time, and charged totems grant her significant damage reduction. Attack and destroy totems when they activate (they glow). Auto-retaliate must be OFF to avoid hitting wrong targets.
2Phase 2 — Parasite Phase (below 75% HP)The Nightmare fires a parasite projectile at a player. If it hits, a worm emerges from that player dealing sustained damage. Other players must attack the parasite immediately. Solo players must quickly kill it themselves.
3Phase 3 — Sleepwalker Phase (below 50% HP)Sleepwalker NPCs spawn from the surrounding crowd and walk toward The Nightmare. If they reach her, they heal her. Kill sleepwalkers immediately — prioritise them over the boss herself.
4Phase 4 — Muspah Phase (below 25% HP)The Nightmare fully empowers herself. Prayer drain intensifies. She becomes immune to damage for short windows. Maximum DPS and prayer management required. Eldritch orb spec on the Nightmare staff restores prayer — use it aggressively.

Tips & tricks

  • Turn auto-retaliate OFF — it causes misclicks onto totems or parasites at critical moments.
  • Inquisitor's armour is best-in-slot — all three pieces multiply the crush accuracy bonus.
  • Eldritch orb special attack restores 50% of damage dealt as prayer points — use it on every spec.
  • Totem priority: always destroy the most-charged totem first.
  • Sleepwalkers heal The Nightmare to 50% of the sleepwalker's remaining HP — kill them on sight.
  • The fight becomes exponentially harder the longer it drags — maximise uptime and DPS.
